Call Center Operator – Location: White Hall WV
The Call Center Operators answer inbound calls and re-route them within the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) hospital, clinics, and departments, which are located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The Call Center Operators must be able to communicate clearly in grammatically-correct English and process information accurately for all call requests. Ability to speak a second language is a plus. The Call Center Operators must be able to work in a high call volume, non-technical environment. The average call volume is approximately 700 calls a day and calls must be answered in less than 30 seconds; all contractual metrics must be met. Call Center Operators will be trained to respond to inbound caller requests and will be required to be sensitive regarding HIPAA, PII, and distribution of information. Shifts are based on an eight-hour workday, forty-hour workweek; part time positions are also available and do not typically exceed 29 hours per week. A pleasant voice and calm demeanor, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, are essential. The call center is open 24x7x365 (i.e., days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays) and the ability to work in a multi-shift environment is mandatory.
Candidate must be a US Citizen with no criminal history. A comprehensive background investigation will be performed and must be successfully adjudicated prior to employment.
Education Requirements and Key Competencies
Candidate must have a high school diploma or college degree; a GED or TASC high-school equivalency diploma is also accepted. Candidate must have reliable transportation; the ability to work rotating schedules, including holidays, evenings, overnights and weekends; knowledge of customer service principles and practices; customer service expertise and orientation; good keyboard skills; and outstanding listening, verbal, and written communication skills. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate good decision making judgments; be adaptable; be proficient in relevant computer skills and applications; and be proficient at problem analysis and resolution.
A minimum of two years in a Customer Service or Call Center environment working with Windows operating systems, internet searches, and applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook) is required. Candidates must be detail-oriented and professional, with the ability to work independently and as a team. Candidates will also have PBX switchboard experience with the ability to answer phones professionally, respond to customer inquiries, research required information using available resources (e.g., written documentation and internet searches), handle customer complaints effectively, successfully transfer calls to the appropriate resources and escalate problem calls for resolution as needed.
